How can I Make My Cat More Affectionate?

Making a cat more affectionate is the longing of many pet owners. Some cats are secular when they are picked, cuddled, or petted and very rarely sitting on someone’s lap for these shows of affection. Although Other kitties love this kind of attention

One of the most important steps you can take in the early stages of making a cat more affectionate is to provide it with good food, clean water, fun toys to play with, and a litterbox to clean regularly. All of this helps identify your positive motives for the cat. You will also feel happy when you see your pet cat is happy. These mutual good feelings will make your relationship sweeter.

Spend extra time with your cat, as if it sees you not only as its own owner but also as a friend, food provider, and guardian.

If your cat doesn’t come to greet you, be proactive and go to your pet to greet it first . Once it becomes accustomed to all this attention, your feline friend will start expecting it from you very well.

Making a cat more affectionate starts with keeping them healthy, happy and comfortable. Cats show their affection differently than other animals, which is frustrating for some people who were hoping for a cuddly, compassionate kitty.

Although some cats will be quite affectionate and will lie very comfortably in your lap. Wondering how to make your cat more affectionate ? Here are my best tips for building lasting bonds with the little ball of fur.

Best Tips To make your cat more affectionate

All of these ways to make your cat more affectionate will fulfill your desires as soon as they have passed a sufficient time, so don’t lose patience.

Especially if you have a particularly crooked and unloving cat, I think it is entirely possible to train each cat to be at least a little more comfortable and happy when it comes to pets.

Not every cat is the same and thus the following few tips may work for your cat, and the rest may not. Keep doing things your cat likes and refrain from the ones it doesn’t.

1. Make Your Cat Feel Safer

Give your cat an area where they can be alone and feel safe. If you have an extra room, set up everything you need for it, a litter box, food, water, cat toys, and bedding, and make sure your other pets can’t fit in the room.

If you don’t have extra room, just set up a small space somewhere. Make sure your cat spends the first day or so here, making sure to check in regularly to help start the mating process.

2. Have A Play Session With The Cat

Cat toys allow you to truly interact with your pet. Some cats have a strong tendency to throw a small ball or a piece of paper and send them across the house like a cheetah.

If possible, try to set aside 30 minutes in the evening to play. This is another custom that will strengthen the bond between you. It’s time to start playing as soon as your cat feels comfortable.

Having a play session with your cat not only makes it more affectionate but also helps your cat to make you more recognizable as an owner.

This is one of the best ways to bond with a new cat. After all, if they are left alone, they will do it with their siblings.

3. Give Your Cat Plenty Of Space

On the first day or so when your cat starts to feel more comfortable, you can let them roam around your home, but always allow them access to a “safe room”. This is also one of the most important times in the bonding process.

You don’t want your cat to be overwhelmed so you should contact them, but don’t do it too often. When you do, try to  let them take the first step, instead of forcing them to interact.

4. Make Your Cat Affectionate Through Feeding

Feeding is another great way to bond with your new cat. Pick a specific time of day for feeding and if you stick to it your cat will quickly learn the schedule. Try to talk to the pet while feeding your cat as this will make your bond stronger.

The goal when feeding is to make your cat feel special. Your cat will be happy when you feed them, so the food is a good time to show your cat some affection. Place the food in your cat’s bowl and gently  pet your cat while eating.

Do this with every meal. Feeding your cat with your touch can add to the positive feeling they get.

5. Pet Your Cat Often

When you wake up in the morning, if your cat doesn’t greet you, look for them and greet them. If your cat is hiding, don’t bother them. When they are ready to eat they will probably be raised and the sound of food bags or can openers will pull it off.

Pet your cat, but first get permission, and talk to them frequently so they get used to it. They will already engage you with food, this is a definite possibility, and you will make them more affectionate by petting them gently and speaking softly.

Once your new cat is comfortable with your touch, take a step further and start petting them. One of the most social behaviors among cats is grooming and when you pet your cat, you are doing something similar.

The only difference is Instead of tongue you are using your hand. This means it will make them feel comfortable and clearly show your intentions.

When you get home from work, make sure to find your cat and give them some attention. Remember that your cat was alone for a few hours and will wait to spend some time with you.

Cats, like all animals, are creatures of habit. When your cat becomes accustomed to being close to you and being touched by you, they can learn to like it and return the affection.

6. Give Your Cat Some Toys

Try to figure out which toy your cat likes best and play by using these toys at least once or twice a day. Your cat will start to acknowledge being with you as fun. If your cat is resistant when you are trying to pick them up, try a bar toy with them to toggle with them.

If they feel comfortable with you while you are sitting on the floor, keep them in your lap as you move the toy. Once your cat has become accustomed to being around you while playing, there will be more opportunities to pick them up.

Of course, this may not be as good as being able to hug and cuddle, but it will be a form of physical bonding.

Your cat doesn’t have to be a cat in a lap to be affectionate. They may sit next to you or enjoy being a few inches away, but that doesn’t mean they are not affectionate.

7. Treats And Catnips Works Like A Charm

When your cat comes out of hiding and comes close to you, reward them with a treat.

Again, the idea is that your cat needs to associate you with positive emotions and they can start to find you so that they can be more affectionate towards you.

Another charming idea is catnip. Simply put, most cats are insane for catnip, and it can also make them more affectionate and friendly.

Catnip acts as a natural mood enhancer. This can make your cat act quite unnaturally. It can roll, claw or rub its face at the source of the catnip.

Or it may jump up and become a jerk, go from house to house and appear to chase invisible prey. So go ahead and give it a try: Sprinkle a pinch of dried catnips on your cat.

Then, while your cat is wandering around and enjoying this fragrant, lean towards giving your friend some soft petting.

8. Rub Your Cat The Right Way

Cats are particularly concerned about where and how they are likely to be touched. Scratch them between the ears or under the chin, rub that sweet spot between the eyes, or stroke the side of the spine.

Avoid the abdomen and the ankles of the tail. Many cats feel vulnerable when you try to rub their belly even if you are not a threat to them.

They like to take our scent with the glands of our head and mouth but they don’t like it so much when we smell from their tail glands. It may be that the glands at the base of the tail have a specific use or meaning in cats and their scent is not for us.

To Conclude

Feeding your cat high-quality food, giving it enough clean water, accessing a fresh litter box on a regular basis, keeping your pet busy with something challenging, and occasionally giving healthy treats will help make the cat more affectionate towards you.

Apart from these ideas of mine, I believe that you’ve thought of something of your own!
